Some older or higher-mileage MINI vehicles may qualify for a third-party vehicle service contract. Qualification is never based on the MINI name alone; each provider applies vehicle, location, and underwriting criteria.

Information that can affect eligibility

  • Exact model, model year, trim, vehicle identification number, and current mileage
  • Vehicle condition, warning lights, known problems, and recent repair history
  • Personal, rideshare, delivery, rental, commercial, or other use
  • Branded or salvage title history, modifications, and ownership status
  • Registration state and where the vehicle is normally kept

Older vehicles may have fewer available plan levels, shorter terms, different mileage limits, or higher prices. Some models, uses, modifications, or conditions may be ineligible.

Prepare accurate records

Confirm the odometer reading and gather recent maintenance and repair invoices before requesting a quote. Do not clear warning lights, conceal symptoms, or estimate mileage. A provider may require a waiting period, inspection, vehicle-history information, or proof of maintenance.

Understand pre-existing conditions

A service contract is designed for covered failures that occur after its effective date and any applicable waiting period. It generally does not pay for a failure that already existed, symptoms that began earlier, or damage caused by a prior condition. An inspection or a seller’s statement that the vehicle “runs well” does not create coverage.

Evaluate value, not just eligibility

Compare the total price with the coverage term, mileage allowance, deductible, covered components, exclusions, limits, and claim procedures. Consider how long you expect to keep the vehicle and what you could comfortably pay out of pocket. Eligibility does not necessarily mean a particular contract is the right financial choice.
